The Storytellers

 

· Cristina Ali Farah

     

She was born in Verona the 29th of may, in 1973. Her father was from Somalia and her mother from Italy. She lived in Mogadishu (Somalia) until 1991.

She lives in Rome since 1997. She worked as Educator and Cultural Mediator and she is a redactor of the Migranews Agency, “El-Ghibli” and “Caffé” Literary Magazines.

A lot of her novels and poetry texts were published in various anthologies and reviews.

In 2006 she won the “Mother Language National Literary Competition”.

In Spring 2007 Frassinelli Editor will publish her new novel.

· Gabriella Ghermandi

    

She was born in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) in 1956, and she moved to Italy in 1979. Since many years she lives in Bologna, where her father was born. In 1999 she won the Migrant Writers Competition 1° Award (Eks&Tra Association), organized by Fara Editor, and in 2001 she has got the 3° prize. A lot of her novels were published on magazines and book series. Following the metaphor’s art, which is typical in Ethiopic cultural tradition, she writes and interprets her storytelling performances. She is the artistic director of Evocamondi Festival, World Music and Storytelling event, organized in Bentivoglio (Bologna’s Province) by El Ghibli Review, and of “Paths crossroads”, migrant writers meetings in Bologna’s Province Bibliothekes. She also created, together with other writers, the El Ghibli Review and she is part of the Editorial Staff. In 2007 her novel “Queen of flowers and pearls” was edited by Donzelli Publisher.

· Yvan Tetelbom

    

He was born in Kabylia (ALGERIA), Port Gueydon, in 1947. Polish, Algerian and Jewish origins. It is there that he discovers his passion for the FRENCH LANGUAGE. Before entering POETRY, formed in the 70s in acting and singing. Then sings his songs in cabarets in Paris and in province. For several years occurs only either with musicians or with other poets on numerous stages (Approximately one thousand) among whom: Paris, Montpelier, Strasbourg, Marseille, Grenoble, Hungary, Israel, Palestinian territories...  

He writes and publishes his poetry (his last personal anthology book is entitled PRAYERS AND CONFESSIONS), promotes the poetics of language in schools, centres for handicapped persons, prisons. Real creative cultural he makes his the thought of Ben Brick which wrote: " The freedom, it is necessary to tear it away every day". 

He organizes FESTIVALS of poetry, in France and abroad (his last guests of honour in 2003, 2004 were Jeans Orizet and Pierre Delanoé) and creates permanent places of poetry (Nice, Vallauris). 

He collaborates with Radio regional, national and international televisions, in more than 100 broadcasts to speak about his work (last broadcast in France 3 national in April, 2005 on his work in detention center).

After a brief passage in politics as added delegated to the culture in Vallauris (2001 - 2002, when in a short time is going to revolutionize the cultural tissue of the city, but the politicking regrettably, destroys his hope) he returns to his first courtship by occurring on stage and finding the breath of the activist in the grips with the reality.

· Paolo Parnasi

     

 

He is a journalist since 1989 and actually he works as Head service of La7 Television politics - economics Redaction. For 13 years he works in a sport Redaction of TMC and La7 Televisions, following many international events, as Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 and World Volleyball Championship in 1990, when Italy won his first cup.

As an actor he begins in Summer 2001 with the “Chi è di scena” Company, in the pièce “La squola”, directed by Marina Vitolo (many repeat performances). In December 2001 he performs in “La buona novella”, Fabrizio De André, directed also by Marina Vitolo.

In 2002 and 2003 he lives important experiences about Street Theatre, working on characters and pièces as Cyrano (Rostand), Pulcinella, “Romeo and Juliet”, directed by Marina Vitolo. In 2002 he plays a role in “Andare a teatro”, from Tingeltangel, Karl Valentine, direction of Marina Vitolo too.

In 2004, in the Manzoni Theatre, he works in “Un’altra strada”, directed by Marina Vitolo, an original theatre recital on mechanisms behind handicap’ social constitution and exclusions ways (many repeat performances).

In 2004 he attends the course “Comic character building”, leaded by Caterina Casini, inside the “Festival Fontanonestate”, concluding with a show written by actors.

In 2005 he participates to the Theatre and Creative Writing Laboratory leaded by Benedetto Tudino and in the same year he plays a role in “In due si può”, directed by Tudino, inside the “Borgo Festival” of Fiano Romano (a written by actors work).

In 2006, in the Colosseo Theatre of Rome, he is part of the cast in “Occupati di Amelia”, Georges Feydeau, directed by Lucia Modugno.

In 2006, he attends the Intercultural Theatre Storytelling Laboratory, “The gift of diversity”, leaded by Alessandro Ghebreigziabiher, and in the same year, together with “The differents, almost equal, but differents” Company, performs in “Stories on the mirror”, directed by Ghebreigziabiher, in the Bibli Cultural Center (all written by actors stories). In 2006/2007 he performs in the show “The poet, the saint and the navigator”, pièce directed by Ghebreigziabiher. In March 2007, he plays in the theatre storytelling pièce "Voices from inside", directed by Enrica Mormile, presented by Cultural Association "La Filonirica". From March to May, in the same year, he plays in the comedy "La Marcolfa", by Dario Fo, directed again by E. Mormile (Theatre Company "La Filonirica").

In 1995 she has got a Literature and Art’s subjects degree, by “La Sapienza”, University of Rome. In the next years she employs her theatre studies with: Actress Diploma (Gropius School), Fairy tale and Storytelling Laboratory (C.T. Ruotalibera), Diction course (Upter), Psychodrama Stage (Prof. Ferruccio Gori), Clown Art (M. Fabbri and G. From 1996 to 2001 she works with Theatre Company Kairos, realizing pièce for children audience and teaching on many theatre courses. Particularly, since 1997 she is responsible of Integrated Theatre laboratories in the Audio Fono Logopedy Center of Rome, with different able and not hearing adolescents.

In 2005 - after an eighty children laboratory… - in the VII Circolo Montessori School of Rome, together with Alessandra Sartori she directed the pièce “If there had been the peace” (“Se ci fosse stata la pace”), their original dramaturgy, against each kind of war. Roman Mayor Walter Veltroni watched the prime and he wrote a preface to the book that the pièce became, published by Edizioni Corsare Publisher of Perugia a few months later.

In 2006, together with some colleagues, she created Artedaparte Laboratory.

In 2006/2007 she performs in the show “The poet, the saint and the navigator”, pièce directed by Ghebreigziabiher.

In 2007 the book “The Theatre history goes on the stage” (“La storia del teatro va in scena”) was edited (again by Edizioni Corsare Publisher), an easy to read and understand theatre history.

The artistic director

Alessandro Ghebreigziabiher, drama therapist, writer and storyteller, was born in Naples in 1968 and lives in Rome. From 1993 he works in adolescent worlds, among schools, therapeutic communities and mental disorder programs. From 1994 he collaborates with the Italian Solidarity Centre (CE.I.S., Rome). Since many years he leads laboratories for teachers and social operators. He is a fiction and theatre author. His first book, Sunset, Lapis Editions of Rome, was published in 2002 and it got some important international mentions, like the White Ravens 2003. After many publications of short novels on literary magazines, in 2006 get out Young world, a collection where is possible to find some of them (La Ginestra Publisher). On September 2006 arrived the novel “The poet, the saint and the navigator”, Fermento Publisher. In spring 2007 “The cosmopolitan trunk”, an anthology of stories and games from the world, was edited by La Ginestra Publisher. Since 2003 to 2006 he collaborated with Carta, a national paper magazine. As a storyteller he participates in 2004 in Evocamondi, festival organized by El-Ghibli review. In 2005 he performs in “Afro-Italian Voices”, meeting organized by Circolo Gianni Bosio and Comune of Roma, and in the same year during the Fourth Edition of the National Meeting “Cultures and literatures of migration” organized by CIES and Comune of Ferrara. In 2005 he constituted the “Intercultural Theatre Storytelling Laboratory”, debuted in 2006 with the company “The Differents, almost equal, but different”, on the show directed by Ghebreigziabiher, “Stories on the mirror”. In 2006/2007 he performs in the show “The poet, the saint and the navigator”, his creation and direction too. He will be in the Festival also as director of “The Differents…” pièce, “The story for what it is”, and as narrator, together with Parnasi, in the show “If a summer evening two storytellers”.

Theatres and Calendar

 

- Cultural Center Library Bibli (Via dei Fienaroli, 28 - Rome, Trastevere)

It is a Library, rich of various titles, a large and silent space where each visitor is by first a reader. It’s an evermore active cultural center: in these last years more than 900 events happened, about literature, cinema, theatre, music, dance and any other art (Information: www.bibli.it).

The Festival will be in Bibli the 22th of  June and the 6th of July 2007.

 

- Casa Libre (Via dei Sabelli, 9 - Rome - San Lorenzo)

It is a flexible space for whom desire to teach, show and learn various arts, as music, theatre, dance, yoga. In San Lorenzo heart, near La Sapienza University, a warm and stimulating ambient, celebrating culture in each expression (Information: Casa Libre). 

The Festival will be in Casa Libre the 9th of June 2007.

 

- Scuola Attiva (Via Col di Rezia, 3 - Rome)

Scuola Attiva was created by a group of teachers in 1980. His aim was to build a pointed to real needs of children school, that might take care of their whole develop and participation in the educative process. This team, in the following twenty years, grew up thanks to precious collaborations of other colleagues, strangers too, but the central nucleon remained the first one, still very convinced.  (Information: www.scuola-attiva.net).
