the gift of diversity Intercultural Theatre Storytelling Festival Why “The gift of diversity”? Easy to say. Because we strongly believe that we have to celebrate diversity every day, hour, instant of life as a gift. A gift that we should conquer, a natural never expected present, hidden in a endlessly to open box, fortunately. Yes, because discovering us is an extraordinary adventure, that concerns all persons, without any exclusion, who is welcome and, moreover, who wishes to welcome someone else… Because only knowing us we’ll be able to understand others and vice versa. Why Theatre Storytelling? And what a better way to meet everyone than telling and listening stories? ____________________________________________________________________________ I Edition, 2007 ____________________________________________________________________________ II Edition, 2008 Rome, May 8-24 ____________________________________________________________________________ The artistic director Alessandro Ghebreigziabiher, drama therapist, writer and storyteller, was born in Naples in 1968 and lives in Rome. From 1993 he works in therapeutic and educative worlds, among schools, therapeutic communities and mental disorder programs. From 1994 he collaborates with the Italian Solidarity Centre (CE.I.S., Rome) and since many years he leads laboratories for teachers and social operators. He is a fiction and theatre author. His first book, “Sunset”, Lapis Editions of Rome, was published in 2002 and it got some important international mentions, like the White Ravens 2003. After many publications of short novels on literary magazines, in 2006 get out “Young world”, a collection where is possible to find some of them (La Ginestra Publisher). On September 2006 arrived the novel “The poet, the saint and the navigator”, Fermento Publisher. In spring 2007 “The cosmopolitan trunk”, an anthology of stories and games from the world, was edited by La Ginestra Publisher. In April 2008 here comes the book “Between earth and water”, Zampanera Publisher. Since 2003 to 2006 he collaborated with Carta, a national paper magazine. As a storyteller he participates in 2004 in Evocamondi, festival organized by El-Ghibli review. In 2005 he performs in “Afro-Italian Voices”, meeting organized by Circolo Gianni Bosio and Comune of Roma, and in the same year during the Fourth Edition of the National Meeting “Cultures and literatures of migration” organized by CIES and Comune of Ferrara. In 2005 he constituted the “Intercultural Theatre Storytelling Laboratory” and since 2007 he is the director of this Festival.
